Knife sharpening

Knives in the meat, fish and food industry lose their cutting ability as they are used, so it is very important to keep them sharp at all times.

To do this, it is necessary to follow the following recommendations:
  • For professional use, it is best to sharpen them approximately every 30 minutes with a sharpening steel or a sharpening steel. In this way, we can keep the knife blade always sharp and ready as if it were a new one.
  • V-shaped sharpeners are the perfect solution for non-professional use or for professionals who have no experience in sharpening with steels. To use this type of sharpener you don't need to have any kind of knowledge, you just have to slide the blade of the knife along the rods. Disinfecting the knife

For this, knives should be washed well throughout the day and once the working day is over, they should be washed, dried and put in an automatic steriliser to achieve perfect sterilisation. It is not enough to wash and dry them.

In short, to keep a knife sharp and sterilised at all times, every time we finish using it we must:

  1. Clean it with soap and hot water to remove dirt from the surface.
  2. Dry it.
  3. Put it through an automatic sharpener to keep the blade in good condition.
  4. And very importantly, put it in a dry knife steriliser (otherwise the blade will rust). This is the only way to ensure that the knife eliminates all bacteria 100%.
