The packaging of a food is not simply a box or container: it is a very important part of its conservation and safety. For this reason, it is subject to rigorous controls to ensure that it guarantees the quality of the product at the different stages from production to consumption at home.

The most popular packaging treatments include vacuum packaging or protective atmospheres to preserve fresh food for longer.

  • Vacuum packaging. In this method of preservation all the possible Oxygen surrounding the food is extracted to achieve an Oxygen-free atmosphere.
  • Packaging in a protective atmosphere. The air inside the packaging is replaced by a mixture of protective gases that help the product to stay fresh for longer.

In addition to safety issues, packaging prevents the loss of the food's organoleptic qualities, helps to extend its shelf life and provides evidence that the product is protected and intact.

1. O2/CO2 Meters
