HYGIENIC MASKS
The material with which disposable hygienic masks for single use are usually manufactured is polypropylene,
non-woven, filtering material composed of several layers of material and the reusable
ones have a Silverplus® finish based on silver ions, RUCO® BAG AGP. When looking at the labeling it is
important to check if they comply with the UNE 0064, 0065 or the European Standard CWA 17553:2020
(E), since some of them do not have specifications, as they have not been tested or verified.

These three-layer masks with rubber Surey Protect comply with the UNE0064 standard which does not mean that they have
less protection than the surgical type IIR since if we look at the effectiveness of bacterial filtration of this
mask has a 98.91%, when the surgical type IIR has 98%, so even the mask Surey Protect has greater effectiveness. It
is essential to pay close attention to this data, as it is the one that makes the main difference. To comply with UNE 0064 the mask
has to pass some minimums but can also exceed them as is the case of the three-layer mask with rubber
Surey Protect.Also noteworthy is the differential pressure respiration is 47,

REUSABLE MASKS

According to European Standard CWA 17553:2020. Its bacterial filtration efficiency is 85.64%. Breathability
differential pressure is 69 Pa/cm2. It is effective against the proliferation of viruses and washable. In fact,
it can be reused up to 60 times, with an effective washing up to 85 º C..
SURGICAL MASKS
Surgical masks are for exclusive use in the health sector, with the aim of preventing health personnel and infected
patients from transmitting infectious agents. Their main mission is
to filter the exhaled air to protect people around them from viral spread when coughing, talking or
sneezing.
According to its Efficiency of Bacterial Filtration (EFB) there are two types: Type I (greater than 95%) and type II
(greater than 98%). In this second type, we can also speak of Type IIR, which are also resistant to splashing (for
example, blood and other biological liquids).
But as I indicated in the explanation of the hygienic masks the three-layer masks with Surey Protect rubber have a
higher bacterial filtration efficiency than the surgical masks, since the Surey protect model has
98.91%, when the Type IIR surgical mask has 98%.
EPI MASKS
These types of masks are Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are recommended for professionals to create a
barrier between a potential risk and the user. In this case, its objective is to filter the inhaled air to avoid the
entrance of contaminating particles in our organism. According to their filtration efficiency they can be of
three types: FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 (depending on the degree of protection) which can also be
differentiated by their filters (P1, P2 and P3). As indicated by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, for protection
against coronavirus, valveless FFP2 is recommended.
